At the age of 55 and being made redundant Barry saw this was the perfect opportunity to realise his dream and become a full time professional artist. Although quite a prolific artist over the last 30 years Barry never felt before the need to sell his work and treated it as a hobby, painting mainly for family and friends. This is the reason why so may of his paintings are available for sale at this particular time. His portfolio is quite varied as you can see from the galleries and no matter what the subject he always attempts to portray a realistic image. This is why his portraits have been in great demand. Having sold more than 1000, most of these in pastels and oils.

These days he works mainly in watercolours as the effects that can be achieved he finds quite rewarding. Watercolours are not so forgiving as other media, once the paint is on it is difficult to alter and so one tries not to make mistakes, however sometimes mistakes can enhance a painting, such is the unpredictability of watercolours. This unpredictability creates a challenge which Barry finds rewarding. Browse through his galleries, if you don't see anything that takes your fancy he is always open to accept commissions if you have something specific in mind.
